Eastern Michigan's Suzy Merchant is a candidate for the women's basketball coaching job at Michigan State.
"Michigan State called and asked for permission to talk to Suzy," Eastern Michigan athletic director Derrick Gragg said Friday. I spoke to Ron Mason today, and I gave him permission."
Mason is MSU's athletic director, and he is trying to replace the most successful coach in MSU history, Joanne P. McCallie, who accepted the Duke job last week.
I've seen Curt Miller and Melanie Balcomb's names mentioned as well - sounds a lot like Michigan's search.
